Here is the 100 Google AdSense Tips

1. AdSense Earning = Impression-count x Click-though-rate x Cost-per-click x smart-pricing-factor.

2. Impression count is basically referring to your traffic. It means the number of times AdSense block is displayed.

3. Click-through-rate (CTR) is ratio of clicks per impressions. It can range from 0.1% to 30%, but most commonly around 1% to 10%.

4. Cost-per-click (CPC) is the earning you get per click. While traditionally it refers to the amount advertisers pay for each click, it can also mean the amount publishers get for each click.

5. Smart-pricing is AdSense method to determine how valuable clicks from your site is worth. If clicks on your site doesn’t provide good value to advertisers, e.g. from visitors’ geo-location that seldom translate to sales, you will only get a fraction of the supposed CPC.

6. Apply for AdSense account via blogger.com for faster approval.

7. Once you get your AdSense publisher code, you can put it any of your websites without requiring further approval.

8. Read and reread Google AdSense Program Policies and Terms and Conditions.

9. Don’t click on your own ads, or ask people to click, even if you are using proxies.

10. Don’t use click-bots.

11. Don’t encourage your visitors to click on ads. The only acceptable text is “Sponsored Links” and “Advertisements”.

12. Don’t put competitor contextual ads on the same page as your AdSense, for example: Yahoo Publisher Network, Clicksor. Non-contextual ads are ok.

13. Don’t put your ads on objectionable material, e.g. adult sites, gambling sites, mp3, etc.

14. Basically, don’t cheat AdSense. Google will catch you, sooner or later.

15. Viewing your on website will not get you banned. Just make sure you don’t click on the ads.

16. However, repeatedly reload your page to jack up page impressions can get you banned.

17. When in doubt don’t hesitate to contact the AdSense team. They are very helpful.

18. Choose a high paying niche without too much competition.

19. You can try highest paying keywords from cwire.org, but know before-hand that you’ll face very fierce competitions.

20. Use Overture Bid Tool and Search Engine Keyword Tool to find suitable keyword.

I'm trying to sign up using this page:

I enter my website, contact, product selection and check the policies.
I click submit and am taken to the verify information screen. I choose
either my existing gmail account or choose a new login name. When I
click Continue I get taken right back to the first screen with the
details prefilled and no error or confirmation message. I can repeat
the process indefinitely.

Anyone got any ideas?

Just a little additional note, google seems to be having some server
issues, especially with writing (I presume reading is replicated across
different servers and that is the reason the fault-rate is lower,
although I've had problems with that as well)
So just try untill it works :)

I have been using adsense on my site for two months now. All is going
well, apart from not earning as much as I had hoped, but things are
progressing. My site is expanding and for this reason I have added a
file structure to try and organize things better. These new files do
not seem to work with adsense now. for example: in the main directory,
all ads show up, new file folder "city" has contains pages about
certain cities but the ads do not show up.
How can I get adsense to crawl through the whole site and show ads on
pages that are in various folders? I don't really want to have all
pages located in the main directory for organization reasons. Thanks.

A growing number of publishers are seeing hackers edit their websites,
substituting the publisher's AdSense ID for another, in order to
basically steal that publisher's revenue. Additionally, we've heard
stories of AdSense IDs getting used on sites not owned by the person
who controls the ID, resulting in charges of click fraud, among other
problems.

The reason these things can happen is that Google does not have a
verification process for AdSense, making it real easy to do crazy and
evil things to unwitting users, who may never realize they've been
hacked. There's no way to list all your domains in AdSense's
control panel, so that your ads never turn up where you don't want
them, and there's certainly no way to claim your own website, in
order to prevent other AdSense IDs from stealing your page views.

Even if Google doesn't want to invest in verification, I'm sure it
would be a simple matter to display on the AdSense control panel (a) a
list of all domains currently running your publisher ID and (b) a list
of all other publishers running ads on sites you run ads on (the
implication that, in most cases, if there's more than one name on the
second list, we've got a problem). A simple list would at least alert
publishers that there might be a problem, and then they can let Google
know not to penalize them for it.

This is a very good point.

You should discuss this directly with Google Support by emailing them:

There are other advertising networks that I'm working with and they do
a pretty good job at protecting their publishers.

They give publishers an option to encrypt their publisher IDs.

I cannot disclose who these ad networks are.

Google should definitely provide something to protect publishers (and
support us morally) - publishers should be able to specify which
domains their ads will appear on.

If the domain does not match the ad then it should trigger a red flag
to google.

Its not rocket science, it will take little or nothing for google
adsense to add a verification process, as one already exists for
sitemaps. They however have time to code a way to reveal channel names
in plain text (without an option to opt-out) to newly generated code...
I recently discovered that alot of publishers other than myself have
been requesting this and strict filter controls for over the past 24
months.

I have couple of queries about adsense website layouts, directory
listings and location of website servers, hope you can advise.
(1) My website is built with a relative width (100%) rather than an
absolute width (usually 760px). It's my first relative width website
(personal site, thought I'd try something new). Can anyone tell which
layout is the best to use for a site using adsense and why? Maybe there
is no difference?

(2) How do website directories, maintained by humans, regard sites that
use adsense and other affiliate adverts. Has anyone noticed that their
'ad' websites have less of a chance of being accepted by these
directories (dmoz for example)?

(3) My website is hosted in Ireland with a leading service provider.
I'm stating the obvious here; Ireland is a lot smaller than America.
Do you think two websites, of equal merit, one hosted in Ireland the
other in America would achieve similar organic traffic and ad clicks
regardless of where they are hosted? Is it easier to generate revenue
just because you're website is hosted in a country with a large
population.

So far I'm enjoying adsense; it's like a puzzle you know you can
solve, or a word on the tip of your tongue. Over the course of two
months I've earned enough money for a few pints of the black & white
stuff. Still, I continue to build a site I'm interested in (also two
months old) and often indulge in dreams about being one of the guys who

Thanks for the information.

Looking at your websites I think you've also inadvertently thought me a
thing or two about how to integrate ads into my site.

Your use of relative layout in your websites suits your content well.
The adverts are obvious but not intrusive. That makes for a good layout
and honest approach that I'm sure your visitors appreciate.

My ads look clumsy and distracting in most cases, the site is messy
too. My articles are also poor. In an effort to get as many pages
uploaded in as short a time as possible the site has been compromised
on a number of levels. This is probably causing a reduced value of my
adsense clicks and my low CTR. I'm working to a development plan and
the site will improve gradually over the next six months. Hopefully the
CTR and ad value will improve with the site.

It's nice to think that we're all starting on a level playing
field, whether our sites include ads or not. My site:

I've been wondering about this. If CTR ad rates are based on
advertisers bidding, then will I effectively lower the bid rates by
adding too many adsense slots? The old supply & demand question... If I
supply too much, will demand fall, bringing prices down with it?
The reason I ask is that I have a large website (~700 pages). 99% of my
visitors go to one specific page, because it's ranked very high in the
search engines (it's #1 on google for its keyword).

So basically, I have one highly prized page and 699 fluff pages. If I
add adsense boxes to the other 699 pages, will it bring the
advertisers' bids down? I'd prefer to just keep the bid rates high,
even if that means just having one adsense box (on the "magic page")
because that's the only page of mine that really gets any traffic.

basically the advertisers bid on my adsense slots, right? so suppose
there are 100 advertisers and only 1 slot... then the bidding rate (my
earnings per click) will be high. But now if I have 100 slots, then the
rate will be low, because they're not competing against each other.

I don't know if that's how Google has set it up, but it seems to make
sense from an economics point of view.

I don't know what you mean by slot. I am guessing you have a normal
website and can place ads on whatever position and whichever page you
chose, and that is a slot. But this is how I believe adsense works.
Adsense crawl your site to find out the content, and probably single
out some keywords. Advertiser bid on a keyword or keywords. There will
be more than one advertisers bidding on the same keyword. Adsense
program will try to match the highest bidder for the keyword and then
distribute it to those publishers who have pages with that keyword on
it. There probably also is a provision to distribute the ads such that
the higher bids get displayed in those positions that attract the most
clicks. If so, I don't see how having more "slots" can affect your bid
rate.

Hi all, hope you can help.
I've incorporated ads into my website similarly to how I've seen
other 'model' sites integrate their ads (ad block in main content
aligned left, images over other ads etc.), but they get less clicks
than the ads on the right margin, which are not really blended at all.
Is there a more suitable way of going about this for my website?

I don't want to go over board with blending either. I know hiding the
ads so that the visitor doesn't know what they are clicking is good
for CTR; but I don't want to deceive people. I just want the ads to
be available in the event that if the visitor is not interested in the
site that they may see something of more interest in the ads and click
them. The ads shouldn't steal the limelight either and should look
like they belong with the rest of the site design.

Of course I want a to earn revenue from the site, it's the only way
I'll be able to take a long term approach to the website, but I want
to get the balance right too.

Any suggestions or examples that you can point me to will be greatly
appreciated!

Important. You have a title over your ad on your first page. This is
actually classified as labeling and could cause a ban. Ad placement is
great, but you are better off moving the titile "our goal" on top of
the text on the right.

your content which is actually recommended by the AdSense tutorials.
Blend Blend Blend. The only reason someone would click on an ad is if
they didn't see a possible answer anywhere to their question anywhere
else on that page.

Jack, of primary worry is the graphic images over the top links ad
unit. These MUST be separated from the ads below as they appear to be
clearly linked to the ads, a TOS no-no.
As PJ has said, blend away. If your site contains decent content then
the ads may well contain useful and pertinent information for your
visitors - they are a benefit, not a scam.

I'd look to change the link title colour to green or orange and the
link URL colour to black.

If you want to keep the images at the top, at least put an HR between
them and the ads and a little space.

In terms of earning money on Adsense, remember that your mileage varies. One website with 10,000 uniques a day can earn $50 a month while another may earn $5,000. It is not easy to predict how much you will earn from Adsense. The only way you can learn about how your site will perform with Adsense is through trying it.

The amount you can earn will depend on the

1. Responsiveness of audience to the ads = Users looking to book a travel to Spain comes to your site about tourist destinations in Spain is a site that will do well with Adsense as users are more likely to click on an ad about hotels in Spain. However, if you are a gaming website where the main purpose of the user is to play games on your site, then Adsense will not perform as well.

2. Ad format = some types of ads do better than others depending on your content and layout. In our case, large rectangles in the middle of the content is the best, while leaderboards do not generate as much as income. Skys are the worst for us. Experiment and measure the results via channels and see which formats work best for you.

I suggest that you start by going to a hosting service like Verio. Get their starter package which will be pretty close to a ready made website. You can easily add components from a library of utilities they make available for small websites to feel very professional. I see no other concept or how it can be more than a 30 min session for google adsense and yet there are so many sellers on how to get up to a 1000$ a week on google adsense. Step 1: Finding a good Niche
Because of the size of the Internet there is no point trying to make a Website based on general areas like Software, Fashion, Fitness, Health. There are too many other larger established companies competing in those areas. What we are looking for is to find a niche within, were the competition isn't so stiff, and yet the demand is sufficiently high.

Note: Finding a good Niche does not mean you will have to sell something!
There a two aspects to finding your niche. The first is to find the area were you have a particular skill, interest, knowledge or aptitude. The second is to decide if the area is too general (e.g. like fashion) and if so to find a niche within were you can operate successfully

Finding Your niche Area
First you need to research and discover the best theme or niche area that correlates with your interests, desires and abilities.
Here you need to make a list of
• Things you enjoy doing e.g. doing crosswords, writing letters etc
• Things you are good at. e.g. using computers, cooking
• Any special skills e.g. you can play piano, program a computer
• Any Topics or skills you would like to know more about. e.g. learn a language
Once you have a list of at least 10 and maximum 50 then create a list and rank the list in order of preference (i.e. prefer doing crosswords to writing letters) .

Once you feel you have found your niche area you need to do some basic research before you go out and start building your niche website. The research involves analyzing the supply and demand for that niche/theme.

If you want visitors you need to match what you offer to what they want. The key to this is in basing your website and web pages around carefully chosen Keywords.

Demand and supply keyword research is simply a matter of looking to see if people are searching for and then looking at how many websites cater for that demand. There are a number of tools available for researching keyword demand for your Website theme. The main tool is Overture keyword suggestion tool which you can access directly or via other keyword research tools like Good Keywords (recommended download).

To illustrate the process; imagine we are interested in making Websites and want to make a Website based on making Websites . Go to the Overture Website and enter making Website. Overture returns with a list of keyword based on Website making along with the number of times they were searched.

We will see that "making your own website" is in relatively high demand (1312). We need now to look at the supply. We now go to Google, Altavista or Yahoo it doesn't matter which as long as you are consistent and do a search on "making your own website"- with the quotes.
Now we have the supply 610.
The results are Overture 1312 and Altavista 610.
Now calculate the demand supply ratio by dividing the results and multiplying by 10 as follows:
demand supply ratio=1312/610 *10=21.5
Ok what does this mean?
Basically we have good demand (1312) and low supply (610). It should not be a problem getting noticed at the search engines for this Website theme.

As a contrast we will do the same, but this time the Website theme is Website design.
The results are:
Overture 214303 Altavista 1,576,064 Demand supply ratio=214303/1,576,064 *10=1.3
Here we have good demand (214303) but high supply (1,576,064). This one is probably not worth trying.

Rule of Thumb: If the ratio of demand/supply*10 >10 then we have a very good chance to get noticed for this Website theme. If it is below 5 then I personally would find something else. The higher the better. So if I were to do this analysis and one returns a ratio of 40 and the other 20 then go with the one of 40.

The best Theme/niche area will have
1. Strong demand - plenty of people searching
2. Display plenty of opportunities for niche related keywords - lots of keyword combinations.
3. Excite you - You are going to be spending a lot of time on it - enjoy it!
Caution: Do not be in a hurry to start building your website! There is nothing worse than starting a project only to find 3 months later that it's not what you want or that it is too difficult an area to compete in. Remember do the research and choose carefully.

Keyword Tip 1- Keyword Phrases
Don't use single keywords but keyword phrases i.e. Making a website not website. Most searches are for phrases and not single keywords.

Keyword Tip 2-Common Misspellings
When entering keywords many people make spelling mistakes by targeting these common mistakes you can attract these visitors to you site or to your advert. Users hate these since there few ways to block them and interfere with their browsing. The advantages are these new systems and the disadvantages is your users won't be happy.

Google AdSense Account Terminated - What Should You Do?

Once you have decided to take your marketing campaign to google’s AdSense pay per click program, you agree to a number of rules including:

• No hidden pages. You must have a clear hierarchy and each page needs at least one link to get there.

• No broken links. If you link outside of your site, make sure you check your links often. No more than 100 links per page.

• When designing your site, create one that is helpful to a user; don’t design a page for search engines. Make sure you clearly define what your site is about.

• Your TITLE and ALT tags should be precise and descriptive.

• You need a site map to help users find what they are looking for if your menu doesn’t.

• No hidden text.

• No redirection of your site

Even if you follow all these design rules, you may still be at risk of losing your AdSense advertiser account or have temporarily been fined a penalty in the form of your ads being removed from rotation on other sites. The penalty may go away with time, but it’s best to double and triple check your site then file a re-inclusion request (instructions below.) Include in your request which changes you’ve made and that it won’t happen again.

Your competitors might have a plan that could get you banned. It’s called “click bombing” and it’s against google’s policy.

click bombing happens when someone, be it a competitor or not, repeatedly clicks the pay per click ad for a business in order to raise flags with google. google rates their ads based on relevance, so the more an ad is clicked, the more relevant it becomes, and the higher up the list it moves. This has made it very easy for business owners to move themselves up the relevance list, so google countered this practice by red flagging any business that has a significant spike in AdSense hits. If the hits all trace back to the same IP address or addresses, the advertiser is removed for “invalid clicks”.

Finding out about this strength in google’s search engine, sneaky competitors have started to exploit it by purposely clicking the competitions ad again and again, in order to ban the ad.

If this has happened to you, or if you’ve been banned for violation of any of the design or technological terms of your contract, you can sometimes have it overturned by contacting customer support. You can contact google support by visiting http://www.google.com/support/bin/request.py. Make sure you type “Re-inclusion Request” in the subject of the email. Keep your request simple, short and to the point. No need to threaten google that you’ll stop advertising with them or list how long you’ve been a customer.

It is imperative, though, that you run reports frequently and store the data outside of your google account. This will help prove to google that a click bombing happened should you be removed. You are not guaranteed a reversal, however. In fact, most pleas to google to have a banned account go unheard.

More and more webmasters out there are utilizing google's Adsense program to maximize their earnings off of their website through targeted advertisements geared towards their viewers in a certain niche.

Many websites earn very little monthly income through their Adsense campaign. Most sites do not even make over $5 a month! Sure, there are several ways that webmasters can optimize their Adsense ads on their site to achieve a higher click through rate (CTR), but I'm not going to explain that topic in this article. If you want to learn more about that, read my signature at the bottom of this article. Instead, I'm going to focus on two other factors; traffic and content.

First lets begin with traffic. Every website, not a few, not some, but EVERY website on the Internet needs traffic to make money. How much traffic? Well, technically, someone could make some money off of 100 visitors a day, but what good does 100 visitors a day do you when it comes to generating money through your google Adsense ads? Probably not too good. Take for instance the following example:

Let's say your website is receiving 100 visitors a day (many websites dont even reach this amount) and the average amount you get paid per click is 10 cents with a CTR of 5% (which isn't too bad). This means that 5 visitors are clicking your ads each day earning you a total of 50 cents a day. That's about $15 a month. If all you're looking for is to cover web hosting costs, then you probably achieved the amount of money you need based upon these results. But hopefully you want more money! After all, this article is not about breaking even. It's about making the most out of your website's earning potential.

OK, now let's say your goal (which is a reasonable goal for starting out) is to make $60 a month. I know it doesn't seem like much, but if you apply the principles I'm about to tell you, you can easily double this amount each month. In order to meet this goal you would need at least 400 visitors a day at the same 5% CTR and average 10 cent earning per click.

How do we achieve this 400 visitor a day traffic goal? There are a number of ways:

2. The other way to make more money through your Adsense site deals with content. content is king on the Internet. If your site offers nothing but bull, dont expect to be successful. People want to read real valuable content. This goes back to traffic as well. If you offer good content (and a lot of it) to your visitors, they will want to return in the future. What else can good content do for your Adsense revenue? If you offer well written content on your site, google will be able to display ads on your site most relevant to the content you provide. More relevant ads mean more clicks for you!

And if your website deals with a niche that isn't too common or popular, think about changing niche markets. Advertisers for low volume niche markets do not pay much for their ads. Adsense - Why You Should Love The Holidays

Have you noticed around the American bank holidays, like Thanksgiving & July 4th, your adsense income takes a nosedive?

It's something I’ve noticed particularly over the past year and each time is happens my heart is in my mouth as my adsense income plummets and I wonder if it’s ever going to return to more normal levels.

If you’ve been making money with adsense for any time at all – you’ll know that your adsense income can be unpredictable to say the least. From one day to the next you can experience quite big fluctuations for no apparent reason.

You may well have noticed that particular days of the week are far better than others – this will depend on the particular niche that your site is in. For me, my best days are Wednesdays, with Saturdays & Sundays being particularly quiet. For my daughter’s site, she often has better days at the weekends. It will depend very much on your site content and just who your visitors are. My daughter’s site is fashion related, so I guess that a lot of her visitors are teenagers and young women who have more time to browse the internet at the weekend.

Of course, the upside of these adsense income fluctuations is that the build up to big holidays, such as Christmas, can see some big increases in income. With that broadband connection comes an advertising opportunity that’s hard to ignore.

Is History Repeating Itself?

The potential flaw in what Massive Incorporated does is that their ad network still only includes the large advertisers. Massive’s website gives no specific information regarding how to purchase advertising, only mentioning that “blue-chip” advertisers can work with their “veteran” sales team to start an account. I think it’s safe to say that small businesses aren’t their target market. So while they are implementing dynamic ads, those ads are still only affordable to larger businesses. Anyone familiar with internet advertising can see the potential for history to repeat itself.

Way back in 1996, long before Overture (now Yahoo! search Marketing) and google AdWords, a company called DoubleClick pioneered website advertising. Their downfall, however, was that they required a formal sales contract, limiting their potential client base to only large companies. Overture and AdWords made it easy for the small advertiser and small site owner to participate in their ad networks, essentially opening their service to anyone on the web. Several years later, one would think that google is keeping a watchful eye on what’s going on over at Massive Incorporated. Massive may be the first to enter the market, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that the small business owner remains shut out. Could google make Massive the next DoubleClick?

How Would google Do It

There’s no doubt that with the best programmers in the world google is capable of developing and improving upon the technology that Massive has. It’s also not hard to imagine advertisers paying per thousand impressions (PPM) for their text or image ads to be shown in specific games, much like they do now for specific sites. The tough part for google, however, would be the distribution of those ads.

As opposed to signing up websites to display their ads by copying some code on to their site, google would have to work with game programmers throughout the development process. This would be much more time consuming and would be a much larger risk for google. In the same way that Massive signed the contract with 2K, google would have to sign large contracts with game developers and work with them for several months to integrate their ads.

This enforces the fact that the main difference between what happened with DoubleClick and what could happen with video games is that it would probably be more work for google to distribute their ads over multiple channels (i.e. more games). Since each game is programmed differently, there is no game equivalent to the JavaScript used in all adsense ads. Every game would need to be tailored to google’s ad network individually. Difficult: yes. Impossible for google: no way.

When Will They Do It?

In my opinion it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. The potential revenue from the gaming industry is too big for google to ignore. Oh, and if you still aren’t convinced, consider this: Microsoft, one of google’s main competitors, also produces the Xbox 360. If Microsoft decided to integrate their newly launched adCenter into Xbox games, would it really surprise anyone if google countered by announcing a deal with Sony or Nintendo to integrate in-game dynamic advertising for the PS3 or the Wii?

Online, it's no different. People are looking for information. They "go" where the information is, and you as a webmaster own online real estate. Your website.

Your website content must be full of specific, focused information. If your desired visitors are "everyone", you will fail. You must decide what you are offering to whom, and create in-demand content for those people. Once you have the content, you will get listed highly by the search engines and the traffic will come.

Once on your website, your content must PRE-sell you, your business and, ultimately, whatever your visitors have the opportunity to purchase on your website.

Your perfectly constructed, targeted focused content is a perfect venue for adsense ads. The adsense code on your perfected pages will pull up targeted ads for your visitors every time.

But maybe your page has a variety of information on it and you want to emphasize a certain part of it to focus the adsense ads. google has something called "section targeting" that you can use under certain circumstances.

You need to be familiar enough with html to add certain code to your site source code, and the sections you want to target need to have a large percentage of your overall page content, enough that google can understand what you are targeting. You add to the beginning of the section you want to target, and at the end of the section. google will decide if this section will make you more money, so if it won't, you won't see any change in your ads. Also, it can take up to a couple weeks to see a change.

This technique is particularly useful in blogs, where adsense ads have an uncanny knack for picking up on terms you don't want it to use.

It's very simple, but not "easy", to build that content rich website. We're not talking overnight success story here. But a long term income built on honest, solid principles that have stood the test of time is nothing to shrug off.

Over the last few years, “google” has changed from a not so well-known search engine claiming to the fastest one around to a verb, literally. These days we often hear people saying things like “Just google it!” to describe the action of searching the net for something. google has made its mark in the search industry, the same way that Hoovers did with vacuums or Vivid did to permanent markers! But, google is much more than just a search engine. It offers a wide span of products and services roughly revolving around the search concept: From google Earth to google Desktop search to google adsense.

With google adsense, it is possible for publishers (like myself) to earn an on-going revenue from their websites. All publishers need to do is place a bit of code on their website and google automatically visits the site, looks at the content of the site and places relevant ads on the site. If you missed that, the main keyword here is “relevant”!

I obviously don’t mind earning a bit of advertising revenue from my website, but I certainly don’t want my visitors to see ads of household cleaning products or car parts or baby prams! I want my visitors to see ads that are relevant to this website and that genuinely interest the users. And google does exactly that. Each web page is visited (and revisited) by google’s little helpers (called bots or spiders) and based on the content on each page, relevant ads are then automatically displayed on the page. Ex: The Affiliate Programmes page contains ads for other affiliate programmes and the Online Marketing page contains ads relevant to that page. That’s the main thing so wonderful about this programme. Plus, you don’t have to worry about selling ad space and leftover ad inventory all the time. google takes care of all that for you.

Making Google Adsense Pay

From what I am reading in online forums and discussion boards, google adsense is still ruling the roost, in terms of popularity, for those wanting to start earning money from home.

I personally, have google adsense ads on most of my websites and I find that even with the lowest of daily impressions an income can be earned. Ok you won't make a fortune with a few hits per day but if you are constantly building websites and optimizing them for adsense then the income can REALLY add up.

A few of my most recent websites are only getting 10-20 impressions per day but really high click through rates. Some days I can earn $2-$3 per site for a couple of clickthroughs from these low traffic sites. This denotes HIGH interest from advertisers paying big bucks to google for certain keywords.

Unbelievably, many entrepreneurs are earning six figure incomes per month from adsense revenue alone.

The smart earners are building site after site then building out the ones that show potential.

The idea is to set up sites in relatively unknown markets but also balanced with some interest in the advertising field. For instance, if you choose a niche with little or no interest from advertisers then the income will reflect this lack of interest, ie. no one will be paying google for advertising in your niche or they will be paying very little and you will earn pittance per click thru.

One site of mine in an obscure niche gets hundreds of unique visitors per day and loads of adsense clickthrus, yet the income is only a dollar or two daily. This tells me that advertisers are paying very little, probably in and around 10 cents, for keywords in my niche.

At the other end of the spectrum you DO NOT want to choose a niche with so much competition that you cannot get any traffic at all. The "work at home", "home business", "internet marketing" niches are not good examples for a newcomer to make money from google adsense. The competition is just too great. If you DO already have an established home business site then by all means add some adsense ads to your site.

Like everything else I have done online I have learnt through trial and error, google adsense has been no different. If you don't put the ads out there then you will never know the potential.

I do get some clickthrus from my home business sites and the click thru rates can be anything from 10-15 cents to $1-2. Not bad!

google adsense is definitely here to stay for the forseeable future and we can all see why. If you have any vision at all you can see the potential in earning from google adsense and exactly why it has become so popular.

Positioning For Success: How To Arrange For Adsense Profit

Where you place adsense units on your website has a strong bearing on how high of a CTR (click Through Rate) they will achieve. Humans are a finicky species, and do not like to feel as if they are being manipulated or controlled in any way. If you place a big bold adsense unit squarely in front of their face, most people are likely to scroll down or click the back button to prove they can’t be controlled by the (ad) man.

You need to subtly work your adsense units into your content in a harmonious manner that subtly draws the eye to the ad, without being too bold and salesley (it’s a new word I just created, don’t try to look it up.)

So how does one go about placing adsense units in a pleasing and profitable manner? First, make sure your adsense units do not look like advertising, make them blend in with the rest of your site’s content.

Next, you have to follow the natural flow patterns a person uses when they browse a website. Most people read from top to bottom, left to right. If your adsense units are in the top portion of the webpage, the part visible before the user scrolls down, there is a better chance of getting the click. I have found that rectangular blocks of adsense units inserted in a table to the right of my content gets the most clicks.

If you have a Google adsense account, you have probably read their help and tutorial sections, if not I highly recommend you do so. One of the neat things they have is what they call a heat map, a colored chart of the best places to put your adsense unit for the biggest response.

It is also sometimes profitable to put a wide adsense block at the very bottom of your content; if you were unable to capture their interest and click in the main body of content, it is one final chance they have to give you a profitable click before leaving your webpage.

Google Adsense Profit: Three Steps To Triple Your Adsense Earnings

If you’re like nearly every Webmaster who has Google adsense on your websites, you have undoubtedly been tempted by the adsense Gurus who promise to teach you how to make a gazillion dollars a month with no extra work. While this of course sounds enticing, like everything else on the web; if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

I’m going to tell you up front, for free, what all the gurus charge $40 to $250 to learn.

Are you ready?

Are you sure you’re ready to receive this earth shattering, mind blowing secret that will MAKE YOU MONEY RIGHT NOW!?

The secret is; There are no adsense secrets!

Believe me, if there was a secret method to make thousands of dollars a month with little to no work, none of these gurus would go through all the effort to tell the world about it. They would exploit the secret themselves and sit in their walrus leather super massage loungers on their solid gold super yachts and laugh at all the poor saps following the rules

There are no adsense secrets, just common sense and a couple of neat little ideas that you can implement that will increase the CTR (click Through Rate) of the adsense ads being served on your website. And an increased CTR means increased MIYP (Money In Your Pocket).

The first thing you must realize is that content is king. If your website does not have an abundance of keyword rich, search engine friendly content that provides a valuable service to your visitors, no amount of adsense tweaking in the world will make a difference. There are far too many sites slapped together with the sole intention of generating adsense income. In fact, for $40 or so on eBay, you can buy a CD with over 350 websites themed to high paying keywords and setup for adsense. All you have to do is enter your adsense information and sit back while the Mailman struggles to deliver the hernia inducing bags of adsense checks to your doorstep.

This is a really cool fantasy, one I like to entertain almost as much as the winning the Lottery fantasy, but it just isn’t going to happen. These sites have no original, valuable content. People who may be suckered into visiting one of the sites will see that in an instant, and view the Google adsense ads as a desperate and annoying attempt at fooling them into clicking. If a live adsense editor were ever to visit one of these sites, your adsense account would be suspended quicker than you can say click fraud.

The underlying non-secret that all the adsense gurus want to sell you is that if your adsense ads look like content, and are tightly keyed to your own valuable, original content, you will see your CTR rate double at the least, and more likely triple or more.

I recently began implementing the three steps I am about to reveal to you, and my average daily CTR on one of my sites went from .86% to over 4% literally overnight. Now this is a new site, just under a month old and I only get around 100 visitors a day, but I went from $0.30 a day in adsense revenue to an average of $6.00 a day in adsense revenue. Now scale those numbers up to the amount of traffic an established site is getting, and you can see just how phenomenal of an increase this is.

1. Remove the adsense Border. By default, the adsense units are surrounded by a border with a text box at the top that says “Ads by Gooooogle”. You goal is to work the adsense units into your content as seamlessly as possible, so get rid of the borders. Now, Google won’t allow you to delete the borders, but they do allow you to control the colors of nearly every element of an adsense unit. Simply make the border the same color as the background of your website. This goes for the background color of the adsense unit as well, change it to match the background color of your webpage.

2. Use Rectangular Box Sizes for your adsense Units. Like most people, when I first started with adsense, I primarily used the horizontal skyscraper, you know, the one that looks like a banner. The problem is people have developed an advertising sensory overload, they don’t even see banner ads anymore, they visually tune them out. You need to make your adsense unit blend in with your content, so use rectangular boxes. I get the best response with the 336X280 box size. Most languages are read from left to right, so try to place your rectangular adsense unit in a table aligned to the right of your text.

3. It’s all about the colors. Google gives you an incredible amount of leeway with the colors you can select for your adsense units. Use this to your favor, in addition to changing the border and background color, change the link and URL color as well. Most people are accustomed to clickable links being blue, so make sure your adsense links are blue, with one exception: if you use a different link color on your site, change the adsense links to match that color. At the bottom of each adsense unit there is the URL for website paying for that ad. You want to draw attention away from the URL and towards the clickable link, change the color of the link to match the body color of the ad, generally black.

Just follow these three simple guidelines and I assure you, your CTR will skyrocket. Keep adding more original, relevant content to your site, increase your targeted traffic, and watch your adsense revenue explode.

Donna Bogatin (a former investment banker and university instructor) is a blogger on Digital Micro-Markets ZDNet.com and posted a piece "...LET IT HAPPEN..." on the 9th July, 2006, in which she imputed that Eric Schmidt, the google CEO, suggested a perfect, self-correcting economic solution to click fraud, and that is: "LET IT HAPPEN".

google through a spokesman, Shuman Ghosemajumder, had come out to deny this imputation by Bogatin. google said that her CEO was quoted out of context and that Schmidt was only responding with an hypothetical scenario to a question posed by a caller on, if there is any economic, rather than technical solution to the problem of click fraud.

Bogatin has 'fired-back' frowning at being commonly referred to as a blogger without identity and without reference link to her blog's url on the same subject by google. She countered that google is only being indignant and disagreed with the casual dismissal of her blog post as 'misleading' by google. That, she contends, would not change fact of her position. It is however noteworthy that, belying this dispute is the raging but silent battle for supremacy between google and Yahoo. A quick study of Bogatin's blogs shows that she is objectively on the Yahoo side of the 'divide'.

Both work out to the same ultimate goal. it is precisely the gap between the short and long run that google, Yahoo and others have risen to fill with their different detection techniques. So why "knock their head against each other"?

Our sentiments and fears that google's "inaction or inadequacy" to tackle click fraudmay erode integrity and confidence in the industry does not hold water. In fact they are impotent in the face of the choice of advertisers, who regularly, successively, and progressively have been increasing their advertising budgets, by reason of previous successful campaigns. That is one answer that will always expose our articulate impotence and silence our unfounded fantasy. Nobody argues with truth because it is one. 20 Clicks and Only $2 - What Went Wrong?

Our website is getting 20 clicks per day, and yet you're only getting two or three dollars per day. What gives? Why aren't you seeing the big bucks that you've been expecting? What went wrong? What happened? Why has AdSense failed?

AdSense isn't broken, your expectations are.

Way back in February, I had the opportunity to experience (for a day) success with contextual advertising. Since the program I was using at the time is no longer in business, here are the numbers that generated some cash over the course of that day:

page views: 6,875

clicks: 667

Earnings: $128

If you divide 128 by 667 (money earned by number of clicks) you can determine that the average cost per click is just under 20 cents. Now, if you assume that I had only received 20 clicks, instead of nearly 700, my total earnings for that day would be just under $4.

Also of note is my click through rate: with almost 7,000 page views, and almost 700 clicks, my click through rate (CTR) was nearly 10%. If the implementation of my advertisements was poorly done then my CTR would plummet to possibly 1%, or lower. Many websites still treat contextual ads like advertisements and separate them from the content, which results in the same poor CTR that banner ads tend to get.

Finally, my website attracted low paying advertisements. The advertisements were limited to eBay and some other online auction websites. Had my website attracted different, higher paying, ads I could have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled the amount of money I made on that day.

From all of this data we can conclude the following:

Generating revenue from pay per click contextual advertisements is a statistics game. Like black jack, poker, and the stock market, PPC can be broken down into number.

Pay per click advertising is a numbers game. At its core it becomes a ratio between number of clicks and number of visitors. With a proper implementation, contextual ads can bring in a click:visitors ratio of 1:10 (1 click per 10 visitors), while poor implementations can expect a ratio of 1:100 (or 1%).

The amount earned per click is a variable multiplier that averages out over a period of time. While there are statistical anomalies on the high and low end of the earnings per click, you will find that your clicks will reach an average that you can come to depend on.

Since this is a game of numbers, the number of page views (your traffic) has a direct impact on the number of clicks, therefore as page views increases, clicks do too.

So, has AdSense failed? No. AdSense (and indeed, contextual advertising) is nothing more than a mathematical formula, whose variable are filled in with numbers that you generate. Sure, there may be variances to the high or low end of the earnings spectrum (some days people just don't click, it happens), but that's the nature of mathematical statistics, and the nature of AdSense.

Here’s a brief rundown of how I go about creating a wildly successful adsense site:-

1) Find that niche – yeah, yeah, everybody gabbles on about finding that special niche. Finding that market with little competition. I’ll let you into a secret – no market has zero competition but every niche has various untapped sub-niches!

2) Pick those keywords – there are various tools you can use to do this (Wordtracker or the SEO Book keyword tool) but naturally pick those with little competition.

3) Piece together a search engine friendly site. Make it easy for google and their rivals to spider your pages. Articles should be no more than two clicks away from the homepage.

4) Write original content – enough said

5) Get someone else to write original content for you – hire someone from guru.com or Elance – or write some more yourself, it’s great practice.

6) Place the ads so that the text wraps around them. If they look like they’re part of the text they become infinitely more clickable! Add images to the side of the ads too, but be careful not to have images that would “suggest” to the visitor he should click on the ads. google will fall out with you!

7) Get traffic. A subject all of itself. I favour article marketing. Write articles on the subject of your site and use anchor text to link back to the site.

Seriously, that’s really all there is to it. Of course there is some fine tuning to the above system – a few tips and tricks that can improve click-through and traffic. But really, that’s the crux of the matter.

google have done an absolutely fantastic job.

Their adsense program has been promoted in such a way that it seems, to the novice webmaster or marketer, an incredibly easy way to make money.

Stick some ads on your site and people will click away until their fingers are raw, stuffing cash into your pocket each and everyday. Thats how it works right?

Well, not really.

The truth is the people who have been immediately successful with adsense and thus went on to promote it to the hilt, already had swarms of traffic visiting their site everyday!

Some of these people then decided to sell ebooks or video packages explaining how adsense has made them unspeakably rich and of course how it will make you rich too - if you buy my book/video.

Which is all well and good.

I bought most of them and picked up the odd tip it's true.

But they all, without fail, leave out the most important details, particularly how to get traffic!

They are calling him the million dollar man. Jason calacanis recently revealed in his blog that he is on track to earn a million dollars from adsense over the year ahead.

The publisher's job, will then be trying to convince the visitor that Firefox is good for him or her, and send the visitor to the download page. If the visitor downloads the 5.33MB file and successfully install the browser, the publisher gets up to a dollar. Needless to say, it is indeed much tougher for the publisher to earn that dollar, compared to contextual ads.

So where does that leave publishers? Publishers want to promote the Firefox browser but what if they don't have any software/webmaster related sites that will convert nicely? So let's say a publisher have a site about dogs. He or she could put a download link on the site that says "We recommend searching more about dogs using the google toolbar". The publisher don't get paid for the download but when the installer uses the toolbar to make a search and click on an ad, the account gets credited with money. The concept behind it is similar to google search, just that it's on a toolbar. google could come up with a web-based control panel (likely within Adsense login) for publishers to generate the download. In the market, there are already web-based control panel tools that allows users to customize and generate brandable toolbars for download. Therefore, this idea could definitely become a profitable possibility for publishers and would be a dream come true for many!

Still, there remains one small nagging problem. Implementing such a product will mean that google will have to share search revenues with publishers. Of the reported $1.098 billion dollars generated from google owned sites in the final quarter of 2005, how much is google willing to share?

With the huge success google’s Adsense has been reaping, there are now only a handful of sites you’ll see that doesn’t feature Adsense on their sites. Everyone is hoping that they could make huge earnings from this pay-per-click affiliate program scheme google has launched.

While there are many success stories (they are true) of sites that have generated good income from Adsense, there are still some sites that couldn’t grasp the real way of making an earning from Adsense.

This is because many people have failed to generate the needed factors to create a successful site that compliments the features Adsense provides. Many webmasters just put up or create mediocre sites and place Adsense on their site and just sits back and waits for the cash to roll in.

If that is the mentality of a site owner, then he won't earn from Adsense. Remember, a mediocre site will also get mediocre earnings.

To finally realize the Adsense dream, a webmaster must produce a site that has the factors and characteristics needed to generate the traffic and clicks it needs to be profitable. 1) There are no good keywords on the site.

The internet has many websites competing for the attention of the “netizens” and many sites contain the same or almost the same subjects, topics or niches. To date, google is searching at over three billion sites; good keywords can get you a good lead above all the other sites.

It is essential that you research well on finding the good keywords your site can use to generate the traffic and get a high ranking on the search engines results. If many internet users are directed to your site, you get a huge opportunity to get great traffic. With traffic comes the profit.

In making money you must spend some. Invest in a good program that searches good and proper keywords for your site. These keywords that people are looking for changes and varies, a good keyword searcher is an investment that just keeps on giving.

2) The site doesn’t provide a good niche.

To get the attention of the people, you must provide a site that can perk up the interest of the people. Adsense works well if you maintain a good number of traffic, you have to keep the people’s interest on your site and have a group of people to keep coming back to your site and have them recommend it.

You must also find a niche wherein these groups of people are interested in. Find the right niche and you’ll find the right group of people that are willing to spend some money.

3) The site owner doesn’t maintain or update their site.

You can only maintain the interest of a person for a short period of time. Many websites have failed to keep up the traffic they generate for their failure to keep their site updated. Immerse yourself in your niche and try to find out what’s new and what’s hot.

You have to serve something new to the people or if not, try to keep abreast with the developments of your niche or maybe add some sub-niches on your site that still pertains to your niche to get new traffic and keep the attention of your clients in your site.

4) Some website owners don’t provide the full attention to their Adsense sites.

Many people just see their sites as a way to earn some extra money. You have to treat Adsense sites as a full size business to make it big. With the heavy competition you have, a good webmaster should treat their site as if it is their main source of income but still maintain a good schedule of their time.

5) Many webmasters have failed to devout time and research to their Adsense site.

Many elements are needed to build a successful Adsense site. Good keywords and the right niches can roll in the dough, but this takes time and effort. It is imperative to devout a certain amount of time in looking for ways to develop your Adsense site.

The Washington Post recently published an article featuring many ordinary people who’ve become financially successful due to displaying google Adsense ads on their web site. These folks are pulling in $10,000 to $40,000 a month. They are definitely stars in the world of Adsense publishers.

Web publishing newbies read stories like this and start salivating over the possibility of pulling in big bucks. If those people can do it, why not me? Is their reasoning. And, there’s nothing wrong with that kind of thinking. Everyone’s looking for a way to make money from the Internet. These types of stories are great motivators.

But let’s look a little deeper into what it takes to make $10,000 a month or more this way.

Each one of the people featured in the article has a niche they are working in, and not just any niche, but a great niche that brings in lots of traffic. Andrew Leyden has a podcasting directory. David Miles Jr. and Kato Leonard give away MySpace design pages. Jock Friedly specializes in free public documents. Matther Daimler researches the best airline seats.

Funny. No MFA scraper sites were featured. Maybe because these people are all focused on long-term success, not short-term gains. Please resist clogging up the Internet with thousands of auto-generated sites with contextual ads thrown on a few pages to make a quick buck. Search engines are cracking down on these so you’ll find it hard to get rich this way.

The big earners found a niche that interested them and put a lot of long hours and work into making their sites user friendly and informative. Some may even have spent good money bringing in traffic as well. What you’re reading in the WAPO story is the end result of much dreaming, planning, and slaving over a computer for hours at a time.

Unless you have a gazillion dollars to spend on buying technical resources and hiring people to create content, there is no quick and easy way to make big bucks with your web site, especially if it’s brand new.

If your goal is to build an online empire, plan to spend at least two years doing research, writing, SEO, publicity, tweaking, and learning how to make the best web site possible. That’s right. Two years. It took all of those ordinary folks TIME to get their sites to the point where they created buzz and traffic, and yes, earning great money.

It will take you time too, just like the rest of us. If you want to make the big bucks faster, then work longer and harder. Now, that’s the real story behind those success stories. So, slow down and don’t get discouraged if you’re not an overnight sensation - nobody is. Remember that old saying:
